DESCRIPTION

Utilize knowledge of industrial engineering principles and practices to lead assigned plant or site with continuous improvement towards defect-free processes that satisfy customer needs and achieve business results. Responsible for the continuous improvement of the process, tools and capabilities of other individuals in the quality function. Lead Advanced Product Quality Planning and ensure customer satisfaction through structured and measurable processes as defined by industry standard. Manage the development, implementation, and maintenance of the plant quality system. Establish and maintain quality assurance standards, procedures and controls. Provide functional leadership for the achievement of annual operating plan objectives at the plant. Responsible for the quality of products produced and for work stoppages if a problem affecting a product is discovered. Responsible for applicable systems related to plant user issues, including corrective action request, supplier corrective action request, and nonconforming material reports. Apply and manage SPC, capability studies, layered process audit and inspection to ensure quality of product, processes and services using knowledge of Quality Process Management. Monitor improvement teams to ensure that goals are achieved and reported. Manage audits of processes and quality systems and make recommendations for industrial product process improvement. Apply foundational statistical concepts required to run appropriate statistical tests and ensure the quality of data and correctness of the conclusions by using standard practices. Lead post-event reviews to identify strengths and opportunities for improvement. Lead the identification, analysis and prioritization of potential improvement projects for the plant, and track progress and the results of selected projects. Solve problems utilizing 7 Step problem solving technique to determine the assignable cause, identify the systemic root causes, implement robust, data-based solutions and recommended actions to prevent problem reoccurrence. Utilize Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) tools in the process of identifying, selecting, tracking and assessing the success of projects and initiatives to meet design quality standards and Voice of the Customer requirements. Establish or coordinate the maintenance or safety procedures, service schedule, or supply of materials required to maintain machines or equipment in the prescribed condition. Position the product’s readiness for production in accordance with the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and APQP provisions of Automotive Industry Action Group manuals and company procedures in order to meet supplier and customer requirements. Manage and develop quality engineers and calibration and methodology teams at the plant. Develop expense and headcount resource plans using project management tools and processes to manage resources effectively.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Positions require a Master’s degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, or related field and 3 years of experience as a Quality, Manufacturing or Plant Engineer, or related position. Alternatively, the employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, or related field and 5 years of experience as a Quality, Manufacturing or Plant Engineer, or related position. Experience to include: Advanced Product Quality Planning; Lead annual operating plan; Corrective action request, supplier corrective action request, and nonconforming material reports; Quality Process Management; Quality Systems Management; Statistical foundational concepts; 7 Step problem solving technique; Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) tools to meet design quality standards and Voice of the Customer requirements; Production Part Approval Process; Project resource management tools and processes.
