Job Description

Must be located within territory near a larger airport (Western Territory which includes but isn't limited to Chicago-IL, Dallas or Houston-TX, and Denver-CO).

Purpose:

Lead and direct regional oncology sales strategy by inspiring and empowering a high-performing field-based team. Drive achievement of short-term sales targets and long-term business objectives, positioning AbbVie as a premier market leader and trusted solution provider to diverse stakeholders. Champion initiatives that enhance patient outcomes and support the broader AbbVie mission.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive and implement innovative regional sales strategies to maximize market growth and achieve/exceed oncology sales targets.

  • Demonstrate advanced market expertise—across franchises, geographies, managed care, and payer landscapes—to inform business decisions and opportunities.

  • Analyze and communicate key quantitative and qualitative market trends and business insights to enable data-driven strategy.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Marketing, Medical Affairs, etc.) to support integrated business planning and commercial excellence.

  • Ensure strategies and plans reflect comprehensive consideration of external market dynamics and internal enterprise priorities.

  • Develop, coach, and mentor top talent, fostering an environment of continuous learning and professional growth.

  • Lead and influence pan-franchise initiatives, promoting knowledge sharing and best practices across multiple field teams and business divisions.

  • Uphold the highest standards of compliance, ethical practice, and regulatory adherence in all commercial activities.

  • Model "One-AbbVie" behaviors and embody AbbVie's values and ways of working in daily leadership and decision-making.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including healthcare providers, payers, and other critical partners.

Qualifications

List required and preferred qualifications (up to 10). Include education, skills and experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience required.

  • Successful Sales Management and positive track record of leading teams in the Pharmaceutical Industry.

  • Oncology experience strongly preferred.

  • Commercial pharmaceutical industry experiences such as physician/account based selling, training, managed health care and marketing.

  • Ability to set a vision and a strategy.

  • Build and inspire individuals and teams for success.

  • Experience with project management.

  • Demonstrated ability to network and partner effectively across functional areas.

  • Models AbbVie’s Ways of Working.

  • An essential requirement of your position is to satisfy all applicable health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities and organizations that are in your assigned territory. You must also be in good standing and/or eligible to obtain these credentials.

  • These HCIR credentialing requirements may include, but are not limited to, background checks, drug screens, proof of immunization/vaccination for various diseases, fingerprinting and specific licenses required by individual state or cities. Please remember that you are solely responsible for ensuring that you satisfy all HCIR credentialing requirements and for any associated liability for failing to do so. to AbbVie has resources to answer questions you may have regarding your responsibilities.

  • Driving a personal auto or company car or truck, or a powered piece of material handling equipment.

  • Valid driver’s license: Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test and meet safe driving requirements.

Key Stakeholders

External: Influential Physicians, Key Opinion Leaders and hospitals. Internal: Sales Representatives, District Managers, National Sales Managers, Business Unit Managers, Commercial Directors, and other in-field roles.

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. Salary: $175,000 - $315,000
