Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Simons Foundation is seeking a temporary administrative assistant to support the Project Manager of the Simons Variation in Individuals Project, a national multi-site autism genetics study examining individuals with a specific, recurrent genetic mutation.
This is a four-month temporary position, expected to start in July 2018.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Schedule group and individual meetings for the team, with teleconference/videoconference capabilities as needed
- Generate minutes for group meetings
- Assist in organizing in-person and virtual events with study participant advocacy groups, including support of on-site research projects
- Support recruitment core study coordination team
- Produce status reports and summary statistics to track project progress
- Prepare presentations summarizing project progress and research results
- Assist in budget preparation and financial reporting for project
- Assist and coordinate with other participating sites in organizing central documentation and communication structure for project
- Assist in creating and maintaining protocol, manual of operations and Institutional Review Board documentation
- Assist with submission of research publications
- Manage travel arrangements and expense reconciliation for Project Manager
- Travel to meetings with external data collection sites and administrative staff, as needed
- Assist with similar tasks for other ongoing SFARI projects
- Take on special projects as needed
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Bachelor’s degree
- Science background preferred
Experience
- At least three years of experience in an administrative position
- Experience in an academic and/or clinical research environment preferred
- Experience with event management a plus
Related Skills & Other Requirements
- Must demonstrate ability to manage detailed projects and track progress appropriately
- Must be familiar with some software packages including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
- Familiarity with Teamwork Projects, Basecamp, Slack, SPSS, R, SAS, EndNote, Medline and other library sources a plus
- Prior experience with neurodevelopmental disorder research projects and/or autism data collection instruments preferred
