How will you make an impact in this role?

American Express’ business is growing. We moved up through the Federal Reserve Bank’s bank classification levels and we are updating our Technology and changing how we work to meet enhanced regulatory requirements.

We are looking for an experienced Controllership analyst to join our Control & Compliance Team within Global Treasury Controllership. Working closely with our US, India and Mexico based teams, you will act as an advisor to the business teams assisting with risk management, risk events, control testing complying with AXP policies and regulations.

On a day-to-day basis, you will collaborate with the control management team, compliance teams and Global Treasury Controllership teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support implementation of Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA), management and unwinding of Process Risk Self-Assessment (PRSA) Refresh for Global Treasury Controllership team.

  • Assist business teams in the identification and assessment of operational risks for accounting and reporting of treasury products and it’s processes.

  • Drive enhancements in control environment by identifying gaps and improvement opportunities.

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders including Business, Control Management, SOX and other Risk subject matter experts for a robust control environment.

  • Support business teams with issues and operational risk events – identifying, tracking, remediation, closure adhering to the stringent timelines.

  • Perform testing of the controls, validate operating effectiveness, to support Control Owners / Process Owners in quarterly assertion process.

  • Support BCP Refresh/Testing and monitoring the BCP readiness for Global Treasury Controllership team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

  • 1-3 years of experience in Risk and Control management, Finance

  • Ability to conduct reviews of processes, identify risks, and suggest control enhancements.

  • Self- motivated and results-driven, with strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to drive shared goals across different teams and effectively influence decisions to achieve business outcomes.

  • Excellent ability to communicate, collaborate, build relationships in a global environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience working or part of Corporate Treasury products or accounting knowledge

  • Experience managing project roadmaps, tracking deliverables across teams and providing status update to stakeholders.

  • Experience with interpreting control procedures, performing control testing and documenting observations and findings.

Qualifications

Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for this position.

Salary Range: $55,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually bonus benefits
