The Apple Environment, Health & Safety team is seeking a highly skilled engineer to join our team. Description

This position is responsible for EHS program support of engineering team operations in Apple facilities at headquarters and surrounding sites. Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

New lab/facility construction EHS Design review
New or modified equipment safety review and facility integration support
Performing EHS risk assessments, worker exposure assessments, and hazard control practices
Conducting qualitative and quantitative exposure assessments
Performing periodic inspections to assure EHS compliance
Respond to emergencies as part of the EHS weekly rotational on-call program which includes nights and weekends
Conduct incident investigations to resolve EHS issues

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS in an EHS based, physical science or engineering degree

  • 15 or more years' of professional EHS operations experience

  • Environment Health Safety engineer experience supporting Research and Development R&D operations.

  • 10-15 or more years experience in the development, implementation and operation of:

  • EHS risk assessments, worker exposure assessments and hazard control practices

  • Industrial hygiene qualitative and quantitive exposure assessments

  • Chemical reviews and approval

  • Chemical safety and management programs

  • Regulatory compliance and operational permitting

  • Personal Protective Equipment program, including the Respiratory Protection Program

  • Workplace safety training programs

  • Facility safety and compliance inspections

  • Strong understanding of federal and CalOSHA Standards, NIOSH, and ACGIH

Preferred Qualifications

  • Research and development (R&D) lab or Industrial facility operations experience

  • Understanding and experience with Chemical management, chemical exposure assessment and risk assessments

  • In-depth knowledge of Title 8 California Code of Regulations, California Fire and Building Codes, Demonstrated experience establishing positive relationships with Local, Regional, and State regulatory agencies

  • Experience with Management of Change (MOC) programs

  • Nationally recognized professional credentials preferred (i.e., Board Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Professional Engineer (PE))

  • Experience in adapting to challenges, providing support, and guiding communications

  • Strong leadership voice with skills in communication, organization, presentations, and project management

  • Ability to build and maintain cross-functional partnerships and influence others

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $170,200 and $255,400, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
