Description

APPLE INC has the following available in San Francisco, California. Responsible for Machine Learning infrastructure engineering at Apple's AIML Team. Develop software to run innovative machine learning systems in the cloud and on device. Maintain pipelines that are fault-tolerant, scalable, and performant, handling trillions of data points. Analyze and fine-tune online inference query performance, minimizing latency and maximizing throughput. Reason, influence stakeholders and drive the feature from inception to production launch that will help improve Apple products. Ensure high availability and scalability of services in a containerized environment by managing the deployment of services using container orchestration tools like Kubernetes. Work closely with data scientists, machine learning engineers, and product teams to understand their requirements and integrate AI/ML models into the search infrastructure. Conduct performance testing and benchmarking of various search components by identifying bottlenecks and areas for improvement and implement optimizations to enhance system performance. Implement strategies for optimizing infrastructure costs and monitoring resource utilization as well as making recommendations for right-sizing infrastructure components to maintain cost-effectiveness. Implement APIs for machine learning inference, focusing on high availability and low latency to support real-time machine learning applications. 40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 - $264,200/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science or related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.

• 2 years of experience with each of the following skills is required:

• Utilizing Golang or Python to develop and maintain the backend components of machine learning platforms, ensuring robust functionality and scalability.

• Utilizing Protocol Buffers to define APIs.

• Utilizing containerization technologies, including Docker, to manage and deploy services.

• Utilizing Splunk or similar logging platforms for log storage and analysis.

• Leveraging data visualization tools to monitor and provide real-time analysis of software system performance.

• Utilizing NoSQL and SQL database technologies and databases including Redis, Postgres and data modeling

• Integrating advanced monitoring and logging tools like Prometheus and ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) to track system performance and troubleshoot issues in real-time.

• Developing and enforcing coding standards and best practices within the development team to ensure high-quality code and maintain system integrity across updates and iterations.

• Utilizing advanced debugging and diagnostic tools to quickly identify and resolve issues within complex multi-tiered backend architectures.
