Job Description

Investigate, identify, develop, and optimize new methods and techniques to generate reliable and reproducible data in a timely manner. Read and adapt scientific literature to accomplish assignments and demonstrate broad and versatile technical expertise within discipline.

The R&D Process Engineering group is responsible for enabling drug development by devising fit for purpose manufacturing processes to provide high quality drug substances and drug products for both development studies and clinical supply materials. We are seeking an enthusiastic, organized scientist to serve as Lab Manager for both drug substance and drug product labs to optimize lab spaces by improving lab safety, organization, equipment maintenance and identifying equipment investment needs. Individuals should have working knowledge of drug substance and drug product process equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain lab environments to enable a productive work environment by using the 5S principles (Sort, Set-in order, Shine, Standardize and Sustain).

  • Maintain department shared equipment and instruments through periodic routine and corrective maintenance.

  • Create and Maintain equipment and change parts inventory

  • Author and publish equipment guidance documents to ensure both equipment and personnel safety

  • Assist in lab designs and renovations to optimize workflows.

  • Manage laboratory equipment and material inventories including organizing periodic clean-outs.

  • Monitor equipment utilization and make recommendations for new equipment purchases

  • Maintain department capital budget, capital requests, issue POs

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education with typically 5 or more years of experience, or Master’s Degree or equivalent education with typically two or more years of experience.

  • Theoretical and practical knowledge to carry out the job functions.
