The Crypto Services team powers Apple’s promise of privacy and security by protecting some of the most sensitive data at Apple - cryptographic keys.
These are the people who run Apple’s Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and partner with Public PKI Certification Authorities (CAs).

Apple is seeking a highly motivated and capable individual to be responsible for the following:

Description

Apple Root Programs
Lead an internal, cross-functional team to manage decisions related to root inclusions, modifications, and removals.
Review and process CA owner root inclusion applications, compliance incidents, modifications, and removals.
Enhance program policy and processes for Root Store management across multiple Root Programs.
Communicate with CA owners.
Manage process for approved roots to be correctly included in Apple software.

CCADB
Participate as an Apple representative for the CCADB Steering Committee to identify , define, and prioritize
CCADB features which increase the effectiveness and efficiency of root application review, CA owner
management, and compliance monitoring and assessment.

CA/Browser Forum
Participate as an Apple representative in the CA/Browser Forum.
Evaluate CA/Browser Forum proposals, solicit input from internal stakeholders, and advocate for Apple’s position. Identify , propose, and lead CA/Browser Forum ballots, as appropriate, that align with Apple’s initiatives and values.

Apple CT Policy
Collaborate with key stakeholders across Apple and the industry to maintain and enhance Apple’s CT policy and CT log program
Communicate with CT log operators and manage the process for log inclusion

PKI Collaboration
Advise and collaborate with internal stakeholders in partnering with CA owners, developing Root Program policies, and establishing compliance criteria
Work to establish (where necessary), participate in, and coordinate with external industry standards groups
Contribute to the development of specifications, policies, and requirements relevant to Apple’s initiatives and values.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2+ years of program or project management.

  • Deep familiarity with PKI concepts, especially those leveraged in Public PKI.

  • Expert knowledge of industry standards, audits, policies, and requirements (e.g. CA/Browser Forum, WebTrust/ETSI,

  • IETF RFCs).

  • Superb communication skills including effective listening, writing, and presentation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience defining and enforcing certificate policy .

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively organize, prioritize, and handle multiple assignments simultaneously .

  • Experience solving problems through a data-driven approach.

  • Self-driven, working well both individually and in teams.

  • Proven ability to participate in productive, collaborative debate and influence others.

  • Experience operating within a WebTrust-compliant control environment.

  • Experience integrating digital certificates with applications and services.

  • Current or previous participation in the CA/Browser Forum.

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $195,500 and $293,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
