How will you make an impact in this role?
This position will be a key member of the American Express Global Commercial Services (GCS) Line of Business Compliance Team (LOBCO), primarily responsible for oversight of U.S. Small Business Proprietary Lending Card products, & small business pricing initiatives and capabilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing independent compliance oversight and second-line challenge to ensure the business is building, enhancing, and maintaining an effective framework for compliance aligned with applicable laws and regulations for commercial products, features, and processes. In addition to core Compliance Management System related responsibilities, the compliance focus for this position will include evaluating compliance risk associated with new product development, marketing claims and disclosures, pricing initiatives, rewards and benefits, and customer communications.
Responsibilities:
Provide compliance oversight, challenge, and guidance to the business on applicable policy and regulatory requirements as related to small business proprietary lending products and pricing initiatives, in the areas of UDAP, Fair Lending and Regulation Z, general credit card practices, general banking, and other relevant federal, state and local regulations.
Review marketing claims and required disclosures for adherence with applicable laws and regulations.
Analyze new and/or enhanced products and services as part of the New Product Development process to assess compliance risks and ensure adherence with regulatory requirements.
Effectively manage the Compliance Issue Management process and ensure appropriate decisioning of Compliance Issues, timely closure of gaps and customer remediation where required.
Participate in the Compliance Risk Assessment process to ensure that all applicable laws and regulations are mapped to the applicable business processes and assess the strength of the control environment.
Assist ongoing activities related to compliance risk management in GCS, including the Third-Party Life Cycle Management.
Support regulatory examinations, internal audit reviews, Compliance monitoring and testing, and related efforts.
Support team in providing regular status reporting for sharing with compliance leadership and stakeholders on a regular basis.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
Minimum 5- 7 years’ experience in Compliance or related activities, within the financial services industry.
Strong knowledge of applicable laws and regulations pertaining to financial services lending and banking products, including consumer protection, banking, privacy, and general credit card practices (e.g. Reg B, FCRA, Reg Z, UDAP, Reg O, BSA).
In-depth knowledge and understanding of compliance risk management practices and methodologies, including risk and control assessments.
Understanding of regulatory expectations and experience preparing for regulator meetings and examinations.
Proven ability to build rapport, garner respect and appropriately exercise authority in a collaborative environment.
Professional maturity and confidence in expressing a point of view with management.
Ability to identify and understand key risks, issues, and trends and to develop meaningful information to be shared with leadership.
The ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work in a highly deadline-intensive environment is required.

Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually bonus benefits
