Role Description:
The Senior Manager – Privacy Risk PMO will oversee the Program Management Office (PMO) supporting the Privacy Risk Assessment function within the Global Privacy Center of Excellence (GPCE) organization. This leader will be responsible for driving the governance, execution, and continuous improvement of the PRA program across American Express.
The role requires strong strategic, organizational, and relationship management skills to ensure privacy risk assessments are executed efficiently, consistently, and in alignment with regulatory expectations and enterprise risk standards. The ideal candidate is a results-oriented leader who can balance structure with adaptability, enabling teams to deliver high-impact privacy risk outcomes across the business.
Primary Responsibilities:
Program Leadership and Governance
Establish and manage the PMO framework for the Privacy Risk Assessment pillar, including governance, operating rhythms, and reporting standards.
Develop and maintain program roadmaps, success metrics, and milestone tracking to ensure consistent progress and transparency.
Partner with Privacy, Risk Assessment Unit, Compliance, and Technology teams to ensure the PRA program aligns with global regulatory and policy expectations.
Execution and Oversight
Drive end-to-end delivery of privacy risk assessments , ensuring adherence to timelines, quality standards, and documentation requirements.
Oversee the coordination of PRA activities across regions and business units , ensuring consistency and accountability.
Manage program-level dependencies, risks, and issues; proactively develop mitigation strategies.
Coordinate with audit and regulatory teams to ensure findings are remediated and tracked through closure.
Strategic Planning and Continuous Improvement
Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities to enhance PRA efficiency and scalability.
Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics that demonstrate program effectiveness and business value.
Support strategic initiatives related to privacy risk management maturity and readiness for evolving privacy regulations.
Drive alignment between PRA and other privacy or risk management initiatives (e.g., data classification, third-party risk, GRC integration).
Stakeholder Engagement and Communication
Act as the primary PMO point of contact for senior leadership and governance forums.
Deliver clear, data-driven program updates to executives and key stakeholders, including dashboards, reports, and presentations.
Foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and accountability across teams.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Risk Management, Information Systems, or a related field.
5 years of experience in program or project management, preferably in risk, privacy, or compliance functions.
Demonstrated experience establishing and leading a PMO or large-scale program in a complex, matrixed organization.
Strong understanding of privacy or regulatory risk management frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, GLBA).
Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams, stakeholders, and competing priorities effectively.
Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience presenting to senior leadership.
Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and process improvement capabilities.
Experience with program management tools and dashboards (e.g., JIRA, Sharepoint, or similar)
Qualifications
Salary Range: $103,750.00 to $174,750.00 annually bonus benefits
