Description

The Buyer/Purchasing Specialist will assist the purchasing manager with the coordination of inbound purchase orders from vendors. This position is responsible for all products and vendors assigned to them, as well as the coordination of the transportation of said items in a cost effective and timely manner. As a Buyer, you will execute a queue of Purchasing activity which may be oriented by category, market, region, vendor or customer. This critical position aligns, modifies, and performs the procurement process from demand through final disposition and is often the primary representative of Bunzl to our suppliers.

This role will cover our Mid Central warehouse markets. The role will be onsite, in our Kansas City office. Hours are 8a-5p Monday through Friday in office. Once training is complete, you will have some work-from-home flexibility (a few days per month).

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with global manufacturers and suppliers

  • Product selection, development, and sourcing

  • Negotiate price and terms with manufacturers and suppliers

  • Monitor inventory levels/inventory control among multiple warehouses

  • New product development/market research

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years or more experiences in international purchasing, import/export, sourcing, price negotiation

  • Proficient in business negotiations, sales analysis, trend forecasting and item management

  • Excellent negotiation skills

  • Familiar with ERP systems

  • Computer literate, organize, self-motivate and work well in a team environment

  • Must be able to multi-task and must be detail oriented

  • Must be a problem solver and demonstrate good negotiation skills
