Join Swift Platform Experience's Quality Engineering organization as a QA Manager leading test automation and quality initiatives for two of Apple's most strategic developer frameworks, FoundationModels and App Intents.
In this role, you'll lead a team of Software Development Engineers in Test (SDETs) to ensure these critical frameworks meet Apple's highest standards for reliability, performance, and developer experience. You'll partner with senior engineering leadership to define comprehensive test strategies that support both Apple's internal development teams and the millions of developers building on our platforms.
The FoundationModels framework empowers developers to integrate advanced machine learning capabilities into their applications, while App Intents enables rich, intelligent interactions between apps and the system. As QA Manager for these frameworks, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring quality standards for Apple Intelligence, directly impacting the next generation of intelligent applications on Apple platforms.
Description
As QA Manager for Foundation Models & App Intents Quality Engineering, you will lead and develop a world-class team of Software Development Engineers in Test (SDETs) while partnering directly with senior engineering leadership to define and execute comprehensive test strategies for Apple's most critical Swift Intelligence Frameworks. You'll foster an inclusive, collaborative environment that values diverse perspectives in quality engineering, developing your team's technical expertise in emerging areas like Apple Intelligence testing and complex framework validation. Your leadership will drive the adoption of innovative quality engineering practices across development teams, establishing quality gates and success criteria that balance thorough validation with exceptional developer experience.
Your role extends beyond team management to strategic quality advocacy, where you'll oversee the development of automated test suites for complex framework APIs, champion accessibility, security, and privacy considerations in testing methodologies, and drive continuous improvement initiatives based on quality metrics and developer feedback. Working closely with framework engineering teams, Developer Relations, and release engineering, you'll ensure that quality practices are seamlessly integrated into the development process while maintaining Apple's commitment to reliability and performance. You'll represent the quality engineering perspective in technical reviews and architectural decisions, influencing product roadmaps through quality-driven insights and communicating status, risks, and achievements to stakeholders at all levels.

Minimum Qualifications
5+ years of experience in software quality engineering, with at least 2 years in a management or technical leadership role
Strong background in test automation frameworks, continuous integration, and quality engineering practices
Experience with API testing, SDK/framework testing, or developer tools quality assurance
Proven track record of recruiting, leading, and developing high-performing SDET teams
Experience partnering with senior engineering leadership on strategic quality initiatives
Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and agile methodologies
Excellent communication skills with ability to present quality metrics and recommendations to executive stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in AI/ML or natural language processing quality assurance
Background in testing complex, non-deterministic systems or algorithms
Experience with Apple platforms and development tools (iOS, macOS, Xcode)
Knowledge of performance testing, scalability testing, and reliability engineering
Experience with cross-functional collaboration in complex organizations
Previous experience at a technology company with developer-facing products
Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $176,600 and $313,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
