We are seeking a highly motivated, exceptional senior applied research engineer with experience in bringing the latest research to life in stunning, visually immersive products. You'll advance and apply the latest ML techniques to craft a meaningful experience for millions of users worldwide through both rapid prototyping and experimentation — then bring the best of those experiences to users around the world.
Description
We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in applied ML research and development, as well as a passion for building products, to join our team. We are looking for applied ML researchers who can develop end-to-end solutions, from data scaling to model implementation and training, while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams to bring research to production. To succeed in this role, you should have proven leadership ability in navigating ambiguity, be an excellent communicator, and be a creative problem solver who enjoys learning, experimenting with new ideas, and improving processes, and will learn whatever you need to get the job done. You should also thrive as a team player in a fast-paced environment.
Minimum Qualifications
BSc in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field
10+ years proven experience leading ML/AI initiatives and teams in a fast-paced environment
Technical expertise in machine learning, particularly in generative AI, traditional ML, and knowledge graphs
Experience managing rapid prototyping and proof-of-concept development in ML/AI (particularly GenAI)
Proficiency in modern ML frameworks and tools (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow)
Experience leading cross-functional technical teams
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field
Strong understanding of ML operations, including model development, evaluation, and deployment
Outstanding project and program management capabilities
Track record of building strong partnerships with business collaborators
Exceptional communication skills with ability to translate complex ML concepts for various audiences
Results-driven with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
Experience with large-scale ML deployments in customer service environments
Deep understanding of responsible AI practices and model governance frameworks
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $207,800 and $378,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
