How will you make an impact in this role?

The VP Data Management and Data Governance is responsible for data management and stewardship functions across the Enterprise Technology Services organization. This includes Accounts Receivable, Loyalty, Banking, Digital Acquisition, Customer and Technology platforms. Working closely with the Enterprise Data Office, the VP will be responsible for the strategic direction, implementation, and execution of data governance and data management initiatives across all data risk disciplines.

In addition, this role will matrix manage Technology Product and Engineering staff as required where those staff perform Data Custodian functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership:  Develop and execute a comprehensive data management and governance strategy that supports the Enterprise Technology Services goals, regulatory requirements and business objectives, in line with Enterprise Data Management strategy and policy requirements. Engage with senior leadership and key stakeholders to communicate data management and governance initiatives and progress.

  • Data Governance:  Establish and enforce data governance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance in collaboration with the Enterprise Data Office.

  • Data Management:  Oversee the implementation and management of Data Management solutions including data cataloging, classification, lineage and integration for structured and unstructured data

  • Collaboration:  Partner with Product and Engineering teams where they perform data custodian functions. Partner with the Information Security team to ensure that the organization meets the required Data Protection objectives.

  • Issue Management:  Identify and mitigate data risks, issues and incidents ensuring compliance with data-related regulations and policies.

  • Team leadership: Oversee and mentor the ETS Data Management & Governance team, supporting their professional growth and ensuring their work aligns with the organization's goals.

  • Regulatory: Partner with the Enterprise Data Office to ensure all Data Governance Laws and Regulations are met. Ensure Data Management & Governance risks and controls are documented, tested and reported in line with company policies.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience leading large-scale enterprise data initiatives, including at least 3 years in formal data governance and/or data management leadership.

  • Proven track record of designing and executing data strategies that deliver measurable business value.

  • Expanded GSIB (Global Systemically Important Bank) or Large Financial Institution (LFI) Experience. Experience with regulatory compliance, data risk management, data breach reporting, and issues management.

  • Senior-level program management experience with global, cross-functional stakeholders and business units.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate in ambiguity and develop solutions for complex challenges (white space problem solving).

  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, data management tools, and best practices (e.g., metadata, lineage, data quality).

  • High-caliber communication and storytelling skills, capable of engaging senior leaders and broad audiences.

  • Demonstrated learning agility, integrity, and decisiveness under pressure.

  • Professional certification in data governance or management (e.g., CDMP, DCAM) strongly preferred.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with data management tools such as Collibra, or similar.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to drive change and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Expertise of data management, data governance for international banking regulations.

  • Positive, collaborative leadership style with a winning mindset and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the company.

  • Comfortable with experimentation and learning from failure; embraces a growth mindset.

Qualifications

Salary Range: $176,750.00 to $282,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
