Job Description
The Total Rewards Business Partner (TRBP) Manager serves as a trusted subject matter expert and business partner in translating organizational needs, talent goals, and business priorities into sound, data-driven compensation recommendations. This role delivers advanced compensation analysis, job evaluation, and market pricing support to ensure AbbVie's pay programs remain competitive, equitable, and aligned with business objectives.
Partnering closely with HR and Talent Acquisition, this role provides guidance on salary structures, compensation offers, internal equity, and market competitiveness while ensuring consistent application of established Total Rewards processes and governance standards.
This role acts as an initial point of contact for routine compensation inquiries from HR and Talent Acquisition, while also supporting more complex compensation questions and onboarding to compensation practices and processes. The role evaluates jobs, assesses market positioning, develops pay recommendations, and supports compensation planning cycles with a focus on data quality and program integrity.
The role manages global coordination for assigned compensation activities, collaborating with peers and stakeholders across functions and geographies to ensure consistent, timely, and high-quality execution.
Conduct job evaluations and benchmark roles against market data to determine appropriate positioning and pricing within the established functional frameworks and job architecture.
Develop compensation offers for external hires and internal moves when situations are complex or outside standard company guidelines. For complex offers, assess peer alignment, market positioning, and salary structure placement; calculate long-term incentive equity buyouts; and manage required approval documentation and Whitesheet processes.
Perform large-scale compensation analyses for assigned client groups to assess internal equity, external competitiveness, and alignment to compensation philosophy.
Lead or support market analysis projects to inform compensation decisions and program enhancements.
Build, maintain, and validate survey composites for submission to compensation survey providers.
Support onboarding of HR and Talent Acquisition to compensation practices and processes, and act as a trusted point of contact for routine and moderately complex compensation questions.
Build analytical models to assess market movement, internal alignment, and structure effectiveness, and prepare presentations and recommendations that clearly articulate rationale for proposed compensation actions.
Develop, analyze, recommend, and help prepare salary structures, pay ranges, and other key compensation levers.
Support year-end compensation planning activities and provide business support , including selected annual planning data audits, testing, and file preparation activities as needed.
Ensure compensation-related employee data in HR systems is accurate, complete, and aligned with established standards, including support for cyclical audits and data validation activities.
Navigate compensation governance and approval processes, ensuring appropriate stakeholder input, review, and authorization.
Provide ad hoc analytical support to Total Rewards consultants on market reviews, internal analyses, and compensation-related projects as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline.
5+ years of relevant experience in Compensation, Total Rewards, or a related HR discipline.
Experience using market data and compensation surveys to support job pricing and pay decisions.
Strong knowledge of compensation fundamentals, including job evaluation, market pricing, internal equity, salary structures, and compensation administration.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and develop data-driven recommendations.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and exercise sound judgment in a dynamic environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong collaboration and relationship-management skills.
Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting complex compensation offers, compensation planning cycles, salary structure support, and year-end compensation activities.
Experience with HR systems, compensation-related data governance, and audit or testing support.
Experience working in a global and/or matrixed organization.
Post-graduate degree or relevant professional certification is a plus.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position.
