Our Audio Technology team develops and integrates new audio features for Apple's products. We are a team of diverse engineers coming together to create prototypes of innovative audio technologies and guiding their implementation into Apple's products. We work openly and collaboratively throughout Apple's deeply-connected engineering and product development teams. We are looking for a leader for the Acoustic ML team to help take our products to the next level. Could this be you?

Description

Apple is looking for an Audio and Acoustics ML team leader to provide vision and leadership for efforts in the machine understanding, enhancement, and generation of audio. We are seeking an experienced subject-matter expert with leadership skills who can guide and coordinate our efforts in developing ML models for speech and audio processing, leveraging audio data and enhancing audio features across all Apple products.

A successful candidate will ensure Apple’s audio teams remain at the forefront of developing model types suitable for audio comprehension. This will include leading and managing Apple's audio datasets for understanding, separation, and generation, encompassing process development, acquisition, curation, augmentation, and support for internal teams.

Most of our engineers have advanced degrees in Computer Science, Electrical engineering, Acoustics, Signal Processing, Electronics or an equivalent field, but if you've followed a different path to expertise in acoustics or sound quality, we still want to hear from you.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands on experience in Acoustics/Audio and Machine Learning

• Most of our engineers have advanced degrees in Computer Science, Electrical engineering, Acoustics, Signal Processing, Electronics or an equivalent field, but if you have followed a different path to expertise in acoustics or sound quality, we still want to hear from you

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Preferred Qualifications

• Broad experience in audio and acoustics

• Proficiency in Python and PyTorch and/or other ML training frameworks

• Experience with multi-modal fusion models

• Experience with firmware and resource constrains

• Proficiency in modern AI/ML: e.g. self-supervised learning techniques, transformer models as applied to media signals, contrastive learning

• Experience with perception in any audio or video domain would be beneficial

• Experience shipping high-complexity, high-volume consumer electronics

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $212,000 and $318,400, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
