The Team
The Global Merchant and Network Services Technology (GMNST) organization at American Express is responsible for modernizing the payments network & merchant platforms to enable next-generation payments products. The team creates flexible network & merchant platforms to acquire, bill, pay, service and foster innovation, while enabling a payments ecosystem to connect and authenticate parties seamlessly and securely.

How will you make an impact in this role?
The Global Merchant Network Services Technology (GMNST) team is seeking a Vice President, Cross-Platform Delivery & Testing to lead a seasoned and diverse engineering and project management organization. The Vice President will play a key leadership role in defining and shaping GMNST’s shared services function by leading end-to-end projects across GMNST spanning multiple Enterprise Critical Multi-Year Initiatives (ECMI) and Enterprise Top Projects (ETP) while simultaneously scaling our end-to-end cross-organizational testing capabilities (e.g., testing, automation, release management, and pipeline planning optimization). Additionally, this VP will serve as a member of the GMNST extended leadership team, contributing to the overall department strategy.
Responsibilities
Lead multiple project delivery teams and engineering teams that realize the company’s technology vision and strategy in a scalable, iterative environment
Attract, retain and grow top engineering talent across the organization, providing guidance, career development and mentorship to team members
Deliver project requirements that provides superior user experiences, linking customer needs and business drivers together through creative product engineering
Cultivate an environment of engineering perfection and continuous improvement, leading changes that drive efficiencies into existing engineering and delivery processes
Own accountability for all quality aspects and metrics of product portfolio, including system performance, platform availability, operational efficiency, risk management, information security, data management and cost-effectiveness
Coach, guide and promote the creation of high quality, clearly documented, and compliant deliverables across Product Delivery & Integration teams
Cultivate and drive innovation and experimentation across AET, delivering software solutions that meet or exceed customer and partner expectations, often helping craft business requirements in a manner that optimally uses technology teams
Work with key stakeholders and partners to drive solutions that align to strategic roadmaps, prioritized initiatives and strategic technology directions
Work with peers, Principal Engineers and Principal Architects to assimilate new technology and delivery methods into scalable solutions, using and contributing to engineering best practices across the company
In partnership with UCIO and other important stakeholders, apply modern technologies and innovation to deliver world class digital platforms and automation of existing processes for American Express' GMNS business.
Keep abreast of industry trends and developments in payments / card / technology across the company's global footprint.
Minimum Qualifications
Proven experience building & leading diverse, geographically dispersed, high-performing engineering and program management teams; extensive experience & success as a leader of leaders
Track record of defining and delivering strategic roadmap for best-in-class technology capabilities in global payments business
Experience delivering technology solutions within a regulated operating environment
Experience transforming large scale, “mission-critical” technology platforms
Ability to partner and influence effectively across multiple business and functional lines, up to and including technology leadership team and business leadership team
Exceptional leadership skills to inspire and support a diverse and inclusive team of industry-leading internal and external talent
Ability to champion and drive the adoption of test engineering practices, such as delivery excellence, continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) and quality coverage
Deep knowledge in designing and automating the measurement to continuously improve using DORA metrics, which is an industry standard
Proven experience in creating processes, tools, and workflows that enable high level of automation in test/lower environments, test data management and test execution / validations
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in piloting or implementing Gen AI automation in software development life cycle is a plus

Salary Range: $210,000.00 to $300,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
