As part of Team Amex, you'll experience this powerful backing with comprehensive support for your holistic well-being and many opportunities to learn new skills, develop as a leader, and grow your career.
Here, your voice and ideas matter, your work makes an impact, and together, you will help us define the future of American Express.
About Network & Acquiring Solutions:
As part of the Global Merchant & Network Services group (GMNS), the Network & Acquirer Solutions (NAS) team is at the core of American Express, uniquely positioned to support every business unit and customer across the Enterprise. The American Express Network enables over $1.6 trillion in annual spend, serving our Issuers and Acquirers in more than 170 markets worldwide. We are driving a strategic, multi-year Enterprise Payments program to bring all payments together into a center of excellence to drive operational excellence for payment execution, enable innovative payment products, services, and capabilities to be built effectively and efficiently, support our BU strategies more closely, and deliver on our customers’ evolving payment needs.
About the Role:
The Sr. Associate, Enterprise Payments Portfolio & Delivery Management, will play a critical role in driving and coordinating delivery across the Enterprise Payments portfolio. Reporting to the Director of Enterprise Payments Portfolio & Delivery Management, this role blends structured portfolio management with hands-on delivery execution, enabling efficiency, resolving challenges, and supporting technical teams to deliver outcomes at scale.
This position offers an opportunity to work closely with product, technology, and business partners, while gaining deep exposure to enterprise-scale payments strategy and delivery in a dynamic payments environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support portfolio planning and delivery coordination, maintaining and improving portfolio tools, intake trackers, and roadmaps to enable alignment and transparency.
Partner with product and technology teams to support end-to-end delivery of payments initiatives, ensuring requirements and dependencies are well understood and executed effectively.
Analyze and monitor cross-platform dependencies, system workflows, and delivery milestones, proactively surfacing risks and proposing/driving resolution with stakeholders.
Leverage data and metrics to provide insightful reporting on delivery performance, resource allocation, and technical outcomes that inform leadership decisions.
Collaborate with engineers, program managers, and product owners to troubleshoot delivery issues and accelerate execution across complex programs.
Contribute to portfolio tracking and reporting with a focus on outcomes and delivery progress (not just process artifacts).
Continuously identify and implement process improvements that enhance delivery efficiency and cross-team collaboration.
Support investment planning and prioritization by analyzing technical feasibility, business impact, and delivery complexity.
Foster collaboration by facilitating discussions, tracking action items, and ensuring accountability to maintain delivery momentum
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
1–3 years of experience in process change management, delivery management, business analysis, product/technology roles, or project execution (internships and early-career roles welcome).
Highly organized, self-motivated, and adaptable—able to manage multiple priorities and drive progress in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a technical orientation (systems, data, APIs, or workflows).
Familiarity with fintech, payments, or financial services strongly preferred.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with ability to simplify complex technical concepts.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to prepare clear updates and presentations.
Experience with Agile practices and proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and portfolio/project management tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Rally, or similar).
Curious, accountable, and outcome-oriented, with a focus on driving delivery excellence and continuous improvement.
