American Express National Bank (AENB) is the U.S. banking arm of Amex, generating over 60% of the company’s revenue through payments, financing, and savings products. The AENB HQ team, led by the Chief Operating Officer, supports Bank operations, partners with affiliates, and ensures compliance with laws, regulations, and internal goals.
The AENB Strategy and Execution Team includes AENB Strategic Plan and Bank Products, HQ Platforms and Capabilities, and the Enterprise Program Management Office (EPMO).
The EPMO Governance and Reporting Team establishes the strategy and execution for the Enterprise Project Governance Framework.
This Project Governance Framework aims to manage project delivery risks which can impact operating effectiveness as well as expose the Bank to financial loss, reputational damage, operational losses, and increased regulatory scrutiny. Managing project delivery risks throughout the project lifecycle involves identifying, measuring, controlling, and reporting those risks in a timely manner.
We’re hiring Managers of Governance and Reporting to help embed strong control management with Project Management through collaboration across business units.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement consistent tools and methodologies to support governance and execution of projects
Perform periodic Quality Assurance assessments of project artifacts to help ensure project teams are applying the right practical and regulatory rigor to effectively manage project risks
Collaborate across the Enterprise to develop and track project plans (scope, schedule, budget)
Support strategic forums, governance processes, and share insights across communities
Maintain standards and procedures for executing the Project Governance Framework
Manage internal and external exams and reporting processes
Support training aligned with the Project Governance Framework
Integrate regulatory updates into frameworks and training materials
Share best practices and key insights across the enterprise
Required Qualifications:
4 Years experience in risk management (e.g., within Risk and/or Internal Audit function) Understanding of critical risk management lifecycle activities
Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills, with an ability to interact and obtain buy-in from senior BU/tech counterparts
Expertise in process governance, with a track record of establishing and overseeing robust decision-making processes that align with policies, regulatory frameworks, and/or operational standards
Experience within financial services industry
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to analyze data, identify trends, and evaluate risk scenarios effectively
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in finance, Business, Risk Mgmt., or related field; advanced degrees (e.g., MBA, MSc) or certifications are advantageous
Experience in at least one of the following:
Translating risk strategies and appetite into execution guidelines
Tracking and identifying issues with Key Risk Indicator (KRI) limits and risk appetite to ensure relevant risks are managed within agreed thresholds
Implementing risk governance frameworks
Creating, communicating and ensuring understanding and adherence to risk procedures and standards
Supporting the risk exam management processes
Qualifications
Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually bonus benefits
