Senior Software Engineer Whippany, NJ

As a Barclays Senior Software Engineer, you will provide technical leadership to our Customer Management Technology Engineering team and play a crucial role in our delivery of top-tier customer-facing channels including web, mobile, customer care, and interactive voice response. This visible role will allow the opportunity to collaborate with leadership, identify business needs and clarify technical requirements. You will have the opportunity to work on large-scale projects, drive the modernization of our strategic architecture, and support all legacy and new technical platforms.

What will you be doing?

• You will be working across the software development life cycle to design, code, test and document large, complex software requirements for new or enhanced IT systems • You will be providing technical support to business analysts and project managers • You will be coaching less experienced staff across a geographically dispersed team • You will be employing agile techniques such as task estimation, test automation, deployment automation and continuous integration to enhance execution, speed and product quality • You will be identifying root causes and providing technical solutions to errors

What we’re looking for:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience • People management experience • Proficiency with Java, Spring, JavaScript • Expert-level knowledge of relevant software design techniques, development tools and processes, with ability to guide others in the use of these across the organization

Skills that will help you in the role:

• Knowledge of regulatory requirements, including Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework • Expert-level awareness of software design techniques, development tools and processes, and ability to provide leadership in the use of these across the organization • Solid interpersonal skills, with ability to coach to less experienced staff and engage with a geographically dispersed team
