Job Description
The R&D Discovery Research Finance team supports the Vice President of Discovery Research and their leadership team in strategic planning and execution of both current and long-term goals for the Therapeutic and Functional Areas. This Finance Manager position is responsible for the consolidation and analysis of results for all of Discovery Research.
Key responsibilities of the Manager, Discovery Research Finance include:
Prepare planning deliverable for all cycles: Plan/Update, Long Range Plan (LRP), and monthly Latest Best Estimates (LBE). This includes risk analysis, meaningful commentary, executive-level reports and system data loads
Lead monthly team meetings for LBE including summarization of key change drivers and recommendations for financial judgments based on overall risk assessment and/or adjustments to spend gaiting
Responsible for financial close activities including flash reporting, meaningful commentary, appropriate accruals and reclassing entries prepared and submitted to Financial Shared Services for timely processing
Deliver monthly actuals analytics; prepare monthly management reporting packages and conduct reviews with businesses supported
Lead for Discovery Research input into Business Development (BD) models, as requested
Partner with Discovery Research business operations to successfully integrate BD deals impacting the Discovery Research Organization and transition to respective DR counterpart at system go-live
Lead reporting for Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) and Innovative Health Initiative (IHI) including support of annual external audit of in-kind contributions
Drive for the most effective use of AbbVie resources to further Discovery Research strategy
Support key projects/initiatives and drive process improvements
Support ad hoc analysis as required
This is a hybrid position based in Lake County, IL
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting. CPA or MBA a plus
Minimum 7+ years of progressive and related experience preferred
Strong financial, analytical and problem solving skills
Self-starter with ability to operate independently, drive processes, identify and implement process improvements, establish and adjust priorities to achieve objectives and operate with speed and agility
Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with all levels of management and including the ability to listen well and to influence others that do not report directly
Proficient Excel skills
Knowledge of SAP and BPC a plus.

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. Salary: $106,500 - $202,500
