Summary

Apple is seeking an experienced Software engineering program manager for the Apple Services Engineering (ASE) | Private Cloud Compute organization. We are looking for passionate, motivated individuals looking to drive projects and features for the Private Cloud Compute software that powers Apple Intelligence.
You will partner with teams whose mission is to build, maintain, and improve the platform and tech stack layers of Apple’s most critical private cloud compute services at scale.
Your work will focus on services, features, reliability, scalability, privacy technologies. Part of the role will require you to influence and partner in defining and implementing standard processes that improve our operational efficiency. The work is integral through the entire software stack so you will have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of engineering teams.

Description

Technically curious you will autonomously lead projects of varying scale and complexity with cross-functional development and SRE teams with only consultative direction from leadership.
This is not a task-based job; we are accountable for delivering secure and performant systems.
Partnering with program, engineering leaders and teams you will influence and drive software delivery. You will review business requirements, ensure clarity and establish expectations for services requested while developing and executing processes, frameworks, metrics, project plans, defining scope, schedule, deliverables and resources. You will be able to operate at all levels of the organization; going deep in to the detail to prioritize team activities and drive resolution of issues across all areas of the program while communicating status and issues to teams, leadership and other partners. You will facilitate focused concise status and program operations. You will advise and carry out risk assessment and mitigation plans as needed. Execution is critical so you will drive maturity programs with cross-functional organizations and teams while continuously working to improve the software development lifecycle process within the org. You will represent the engineering teams with other internal and external organizations within Apple

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree or equivalent work experience in project management or Cloud, AI engineering

  • 5+ years of experience in program / project management successfully leading highly cross-functional software development

  • Have personally orchestrated the delivery of multiple significant client/server software products, under demanding timelines, managing multiple work streams cross functionally across a large organization

  • Collaborative engagement and technical empathy for engineers

  • Sound technical foundation and a highly motivated self-starter

  • Experience as a project lead, able to focus and simplify, balancing the details with goals, priorities, and trade-offs in mind

  • Consistent record in defining processes, key metrics and executing on them

  • Strong leadership skills and ability to inspire team members

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Ability to filter and distill relevant information for the right audience with strong presentation skills both in person and in multi-location meetings

  • Able to think critically and creatively, identify risks and drive the execution across multiple teams to remediate them

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in AIML / Private Cloud related software delivery.

  • Strong technical proficiency: Client/server product development and bonus points for past programming experience

  • Experience leading large, complex programs; from requirements gathering, collaboration with teams, through software development and release qualification while maintaining a high bar for quality.

  • Experience managing cross-org dependencies across multiple engineering teams.
