The Global Risk & Compliance Organization (GRC) is an independent risk management function, led by the Chief Risk Officer, with the objective of ensuring that American Express operates in a safe, sound, and fully compliant manner with all applicable regulatory expectations. GRC creates and maintains the overall risk management framework, performs independent risk management assessments, and monitors applicable risks.

As an Analyst in the Compliance Policies and Standards Office, you will play a pivotal role in developing and executing the firm's compliance risk governance initiatives. This team is responsible for designing and implementing compliance’s program for the management of compliance risk related policies and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development and execute a sustainable Policies and Standards governance program for the compliance organization

  • Manage process for ensuring policies and standards meet governance expectations (e.g., reviewed annually, updated as part of CMS lifecycle, etc.)

  • Ensure consistency in content and quality of documents

  • Collaborate with other risk governance functions to manage the policy hierarchy

  • Support audits and exams as needed

  • Provide program metrics and reporting

  • Provide support to Line of Business Compliance Officers relating to policy and standards management

  • Leverage various compliance technology systems

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience in compliance, risk management, legal or related field experience required

  • Professional regulatory compliance certification preferred (CRMC, CAMS, CCEP, CIP)

  • Bachelor’s degree with a preference in Law, Compliance, Business, or a related field required

  • Experience in a large, complex financial institution preferred

  • Basic knowledge of banking products

  • Strong skills with Microsoft Office products including, Excel, PowerPoint and Sharepoint

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple and often conflicting priorities under tight timeframes.

  • Experience supporting risk exam management processes and/or project management a plus.

  • Proven capacity to engage effectively with all levels of management and foster strong relationships.

  • Self-starter and independent thinker with strong critical reasoning skills and the ability to navigate ambiguity with confidence.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated integrity, innovation, teamwork, and excellence

  • Experience preparing reporting and program metrics

  • Willingness to think outside the box, ask questions and raise concerns

  • Understanding of risk management principles, frameworks, and regulatory requirements

Qualifications

Salary Range: $55,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually bonus benefits
