Apple’s Instrumentation PD group is recruiting Mechanical Systems Design Engineers with mechanical and automation design experience, strong communication and technical leadership skills.
REQUIREMENTS:
- You’re motivated with the dream and ability to become an integral part of Apple’s dedicated, highly creative and dynamic engineering team
You have excellent communication and social skills
You know 3D CAD modeling systems and workflow
You can apply GD&T (ASME Y14.5) principles and drafting standards
You love stress-strain relationships, static mechanics (determinate and indeterminate systems)
You are passionate about kinematics and mechanism design
You love applying your mechanical training to diverse and exciting new problems
Description
Lead automated calibration and measurement system development from conceptualization to deployment
Digest an assortment of physics problems into mechanical requirements, from camera imaging and health sensing, to acoustics and display
Apply mechanical engineering principles and difficulty, including component and materials selection, 3D/2D CAD, mechanism design, FEA, FMEA
Challenge requirements with multi-functional teams; balance contending design objectives of functional performance, operational efficiency, and execution risk
Management of vendor prototyping schedule and manufacturing plan
Collaboration with vendors to scale up prototype designs, improving manufacturing and metrology capabilities and processes
Support new product capability assessment and failure analysis, chipping in to the development of the highest quality products available
Requires up to 25% international travel to support equipment design, first article fabrication, and validation
Minimum Qualifications
- BS/MSME, Aerospace, Mechatronics
Preferred Qualifications
Mass-produced electronics manufacturing equipment design, including structures, sheet metal, plastics, fixture/mechanism design, robotics, probe design, plating materials and thermal design is a plus
UG NX experience preferred
FEA (stress analysis) useful, ANSYS preferred
Plastic part design, molded part design highly desirable
Metal and plastic materials science, tribology and wear principles advantageous
Project and product management experience strongly preferred
Mandarin written and verbal language a plus
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 and $312,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
