Business Unit/Role Specific Information

The Credit and Fraud Risk (CFR) Organization within American Express helps drive profitable business growth by reducing the credit & fraud risk and maintaining our customers’ confidence in the security of the products. Credit and Fraud Risk makes the right credit and fraud risk decisions that uphold operational excellence, drive growth, and accelerate innovation. It utilizes an array of tools and ever-evolving technology to detect and combat risk, minimize the disruption of good spending, and provide world class customer experience

The Risk Products team of Credit and Fraud Risk, brings risk strategies to life by enabling customer focused capabilities for Card and Non-Card products. You will collaborate with partners in other Risk teams, Marketing, Finance, Servicing, Legal/Compliance, Banking, and Technologies to create world-class analytical capabilities and solutions to minimize credit and fraud risk and improve customer experience.

How will you make an impact in this role?

  • Defines a clear and innovative product vision, create and execute product roadmap, communicates thoroughly with stakeholders

  • Support development of next generation software products and solutions to solve risk management needs using the latest tools and technologies.

  • Collaborate with multiple risk strategy partners, technology teams and other product teams to build & iterate on products that directly impact millions of customers and prospects.

  • Manage the implementation of risk products, drive global, reusable & configurable design, prioritization, rationalization/globalization, feature development, testing, integration, and product launch using low-code tools.

As an intern your day-to-day responsibilities can include:

  • Coordinate calls with cross-functional teams to help define product features, user stories and business requirements.

  • Host daily stand-up meetings with technology partners and resolve any issues that arise during development

  • Analyze data to assess products’ performance and make data-driven decisions regarding the product’s future state.

  • Participate in team meetings, planning sessions, build relationships, and gather insights across business functions.

  • Create decks, product requirement documentation, and status updates for leadership

  • Share insights, gather feedback, and provide recommendations to leaders through presentation or reports.

This intern will have the opportunity to tackle a high-impact project aligned to our most pressing strategic and operational priorities such as but not limited to:

  • Identify, design, and solution reusable/global components within the risk product ecosystem

  • Support discovery of current state product & create a solution to eliminate existing inefficiencies/pain points

  • Analyze end-to-end core product delivery process to optimize operating model and produce best practice documentation for product development teams.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in full-time bachelor’s degree program

  • Bachelor’s degree candidates with an expected graduation date between December 2026 and June 2027

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated interest in digital technologies and customer-driven design

  • Independent thinker who’s organized, has great attention to detail, and can multi-task

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving/quantitative skills

  • Willing to take risks, experiment, and share fresh perspectives

  • Proficient in analytical and presentation tools, including Excel and PowerPoint

Qualifications

Salary Range: $24.05 to $63.00 hourly sign-on bonus
