This role sits within the Global Merchant and Network Services (GMNS) Product team, part of American Express’ Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) organization. GMNS focuses on the businesses that accept American Express cards, bringing together the teams that manage relationships with millions of merchants globally, operate the American Express payment network, and lead bank and acquirer partnerships across more than 170 markets.
GMNS Product is at the core of this ecosystem, enabling how Issuers, Acquirers, Network Partners, and Processors connect to and operate on the American Express Network, which supports over $1.6 trillion in annual spend. The team is leading a strategic, multi-year transformation of the acquiring ecosystem through Acquirer Product, modernizing platforms, capabilities, and services to better anticipate partner needs. This is a strategic priority for GMNS as it becomes increasingly important that we stay competitive with the rise of intermediaries, can quickly adapt to an ever-changing regulatory environment and are developing strong value-added services that deepen the relationships with our acquiring customers.
We are seeking a Senior Product Designer to join the Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) Design Team. The GMNS Design Team is focused on creating and improving digital experiences for Merchant and Network customers. This role is a unique opportunity for a passionate, driven designer to help influence and grow design within GMNS.
How will you make an impact in this role?
Elevate the overall quality of UX and UI design of digital experiences for Merchants and Network customers
Partner closely with the Product, Research, Analytics, Marketing, and Engineering teams to define and create designs
Deliver designs and work with Engineering to ensure proper implementation
Develop insight-driven solutions by partnering with our Researchers & Analytics team to incorporate user findings and principles throughout the creative process
Transform ideas, business opportunities, partner feedback, and research into a vision that provides a clear, useful, and desirable outcome for users
Regularly share your designs and review the work of other team members to gain insights, feedback, and drive cross-team collaboration
Look for and share opportunities to refine both individual and team processes
Clearly and confidently communicate with an affinity for visual storytelling
Be a passionate advocate for Amex Merchant and Network customers
Minimum Qualifications
5 years professional experience
Experience working closely with product and engineering teams in an agile environment
Exceptional skills in UX and Interaction design
Mastery of Figma, design and prototyping tools
Experience utilizing or contributing to design systems and DesignOps
Experience managing and prioritizing multiple projects
Experience communicating to business partners how design delivers on user and business goals
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or relevant work experience
Must be able to work in-office from NYC at least 3 days/week
Preferred Qualifications
Experience implementing UX writing and microcopy best practices
Understanding of information architecture and how to apply it to design
Experience creating journey maps and service blueprints to understand and communicate a full end-to-end experience
Experience working in a heavily regulated industry or on a project with substantial design constraints
A portfolio highlighting your end-to-end design process
Qualifications
Salary Range: $123,000.00 to $215,250.00 annually bonus benefits
