The American Express Global Privacy Oversight are trusted advisors on the American Express Data Protection & Privacy Principles. We work to raise privacy awareness, drive compliance with both internal privacy policies and regulatory expectations across the organization and establish privacy as a strategic differentiator for the American Express brand. As a second line of defense function, Global Privacy oversee, provide expertise in, and challenge the identification, management, and mitigation of privacy risks across the company in line with the privacy framework and the company’s vision to provide the world’s best customer experience every day.
This position is based in Phoenix, Sunrise, or Sandy, and reports to Director, Global Records Management.
How will you make an impact in this role?
This position is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating Global Records Management projects from initiation through implementation. Project management responsibilities include the coordination and completion of projects on time and within budget and scope. Oversee all aspects of projects. Develop project plans, set deadlines, assign responsibilities, and monitor and summarize progress of projects.
This position communicates Global Records Management policy and program requirements to the business. Works across American Express to ensure the identification, retention, and destruction of Official Records in accordance with legal, regulatory, audit, and other applicable requirements. Manages relationships with key business stakeholders to drive appropriate risk management behaviors. Responsible for credibly challenging the business on effective records management controls.
This position is responsible for risk management reporting. Generates, analyzes, and presents comprehensive reports to support key risk management processes for Global Records Management. The successful candidate will understand how to design, develop, and maintain a suite of reports using appropriate tools and technologies, how to extract, transform, and load data to ensure accuracy and completeness of reporting datasets. Responsible for conducting data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights that drive strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Partner cross-functionally to evaluate records management considerations within existing processes and new digital platforms and capabilities.
Support and guide the business in accomplishing records management risk management goals, advising on standard process controls and risk mitigation strategies.
Support the development, coordination and implementation of the global records management program and drive privacy awareness and education across the enterprise.
Build strong, collaborative relationships with risk oversight functions, GCO, Compliance, International Compliance Testing, Operational Excellence, Information Security, Public Affairs, and many others to drive privacy standard processes throughout the enterprise.
Providing effective guidance to business units on records management regulatory matters
Developing, executing, and maintaining effective records management training program to promote awareness of records management requirements, in partnership with designated partners from first and second line
Developing and generating internal reporting related to monitoring and oversight activities
PRSA control testing
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience working in areas of legal or regulatory focus
Working knowledge of records management
Experience developing and generating internal management information reporting
Knowledge of the PRSA process, including Controls and Testing
Ability to conceptualize and break down complex issues into actionable tasks
Ability to address large groups and conduct training.
High standard of integrity
Strong computer knowledge; excellent MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint skills.
Ability to multitask effortlessly and manage competing priorities under demanding deadlines.
Must be self-motivated, dependable, adaptable and detail oriented with a proven ability to work independently or within a team environment.
Demonstrated ability to manage risk strategically and tactically and deliver initiatives to advance the maturity and soundness of the control environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills, able to create compelling arguments and influence across all levels of the organization.
Excellent relationship building skills to partner effectively across diverse, cross-functional teams in complex and rapidly changing environments.
Outstanding problem-solving and analytical skills, with strong learning agility and willingness to embrace and lead through change.
Preferred Qualifications:
Leads peers in producing GRM reporting – provides guidance on report creation and formatting
Translates highest risk exposure for the GRM program into the Risk Performance Rating (RPR) metric year over year – ensures the RPR program reinforces the correct risk posture relative to data retention and deletion for the enterprise
Proactively identify opportunities to strengthen data retention and deletion risk management, initiate projects, and manage to completion
Experience managing a direct report – conduct weekly 1:1s, complete the performance management process, address performance opportunities, and drive higher performance
Complete data analysis and produce legal entity reporting; facilitate conversations around report interpretation and performance improvement
Lead walkthrough meetings for Second Line of Defense reviews
Creates script of questions to collect relevant evidence, follows up with probing questions to ensure correct understanding
Qualifications
Salary Range: $103,750.00 to $174,750.00 annually bonus benefits
