The Senior Manager, US Specialty Finance provides strategic leadership for financial planning and analysis (FP&A) across US Specialty business segments. This senior role partners closely with executive leadership to direct long-range planning, resource allocation, forecasting, and management reporting. The Senior Manager drives high-impact finance initiatives, ensures robust financial policy compliance, and delivers expert business decision support. This role leads complex projects to enhance financial processes, develops talent within the finance function, and is accountable for the delivery of critical FP&A requirements for AbbVie US Therapeutics.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities Include:
Partner with Business Unit Vice President and the Brand Teams in relation to all FP&A to deliver SG&A and margin commitments.
Lead and oversee all FP&A processes for US Specialty functions, partnering with senior stakeholders to achieve business objectives, optimize SG&A, and maximize margin performance.
Direct the execution of monthly, quarterly, and annual planning cycles (Plan, LRP, LBE), with comprehensive P&L consolidation, headcount strategy, and resource allocation, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
Advise executive leaders on strategic initiatives by providing expert scenario analysis, risk assessment, and actionable financial recommendations to support decision-making.
Enhance management reporting, including deep variance analysis, KPI development, and forward-looking insights to ensure accuracy, predictability, and business performance.
Oversee and approve significant financial transactions (purchase orders, contract reviews, business cases), ensuring strong cost controls and compliance with company policies.
Lead financial transformation and process improvement initiatives, such as system standardization, reporting optimization, and adoption of advanced analytics tools.
Serve as Finance lead on multi-disciplinary project teams, supporting innovation, business growth, and cross-functional initiatives.
Manage, develop, and mentor finance professionals to foster a high-performance culture and build future leadership talent.
Ensure integrity and accuracy of financial statements and all reporting related to strategic projects and ongoing operations.
Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and strict compliance across all finance activities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required; CPA, MBA, or relevant advanced degree highly preferred.
Minimum 8 years of progressive finance experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or people management role within commercial business environments.
Proven ability to influence, advise, and partner credibly with executive stakeholders in a matrixed, fast-paced setting.
Expertise in financial planning, strategic business partnering, scenario modeling, and process transformation.
Advanced analytical, critical thinking, and strategic problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.
Demonstrates the ability to communicate difficult or unfavorable information effectively and excels in managing ambiguity by making informed decisions based on assumptions and incomplete data.
Demonstrated leadership in developing, coaching, and retaining high-performing finance teams.
High proficiency with financial systems and tools (Excel, SAP, BPC, Power BI); experience championing digital finance initiatives is advantageous.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. ?
